The factory power plant puts out a awesome 105 horse power, so I did no mods to the inner engine at this time. I made the motor breath better with a set of Kei Hin FCR Flat slide carbs that are 39mm and of course the exhaust mentioned earlier. Surprisingly adding the much larger 39mm carbs did not cause any flat spots or performance problems on the stock engine even though the stock carbs are only a 34mm CV carb. I am sure the addition below made it function better overall.
This is a Dyna 2000 digital ignition unit and it and the added Accel coils was the key to making the large carbs work on this bike. It has 5 advance curves and 4 retard curves along with a built in rev limiter. A very versatile ignition. All of the system was wired into the stock harness using factory plug points so the stock harness was not altered in any way.
All in all the bike came out beautiful and really works great. It is a blast to ride and even with all the mods did not cost as much to buy and build as a new sport bike. The best part is the plates and insurance is on a 1983 bike!!!
And NOW for the updated pictures taken at the Morgan County Fair Grounds during the Walneck's swap meet and bike show for Japanese and European bikes. I placed FIRST PLACE in the '80's Custom Bikes category.
